Grandma’s Way: They Do It All
Boldly defended the land and back to the loom
For over three decades, the grandmothers of Dong Mafai fought to save their land from limestone mining. Through protests, legal battles, and devastating loss, they refused to give up and they won. Today, the land they defended is healing, replanted with native trees and tended by the same hands that saved it.
These women now weave placemats and coasters from native sedge grass, transforming their protected land into sustainable livelihoods. Each piece carries their story of resilience. When you bring these into your home, you're honoring their victory and supporting a future rooted in justice and care for the community.
